I have been spending literally every other day online looking, searching for homes trying to see what is out there. I am so upset about the current options, I sure hope something will come available closer to the time but this is my options as of right now. As many times as we’ve moved I’ve never found a move to be as hard as this one!
In looking closer at Toledo, I have three options-Toledo apparently is a high crime area, who knew! I looked up about crime in this current month and it had more crime in Toledo than in Detroit, which is much larger than Toledo. There are areas of Toledo where the neighbors pay a security company to secure their neighborhood…ugh, they don’t even do that in Detroit. I am having a hard time in finding info about what neighborhoods are good to move into in Toledo. We are going to be driving to Toledo next week to check out houses etc. and get a good sense for ourselves of what its like. I can A) Find a nice neighborhood inside the city of Toledo that is safe to live. B) Find a place in the suburban areas-(problem is that there seems to be only townhouses or apartments available which means giving up the chickens. C) Buy a mobile home and give up the chickens.
Another option- look for homes in Michigan which again is very hard to find. I am getting only Detroit options and one person does have a house in Redford but it is above what I can afford.
The third option is moving back to Tennessee. My mother and sister think we should stay close. My mother esp. wants us close which I want to do. Tennessee has quite a few houses listed, but chickens aren’t allowed inside the city and we would be too far but it is safe. I mean safe! You can leave the keys in the car with the car running and go into the gas station and take your time and when you come out, nothing has happened. It took me a few months to break out of that habit when we moved back up here. You can also leave your door unlocked.
I moved to a pretty safe area here and I don’t want to move to a place in Ohio or Michigan where I can’t be safe…so where does that leave me…drawing so that I can paint my first painting in a few months with the list from rentals from Toledo in front of me, as I sketch out what I want to paint. 2 months to the countdown…I’m pulling out my paints!
Don’t settle for a high crime area. I am sorry this is so stressful for you. I hate moving let alone having a hard time finding some place. Good luck.
Sweetheart, I won’t. I don’t want to be afraid. My friend lives in Detroit in a high crime area and I couldn’t imagine being that fearful. The answer will come…
