Composting in the winter

I have a plastic container with a lid that sat empty for months. I was taking old ‘green’ foods. Green meaning no meat or anything that would attract rats/mice but might attract rabbits which are fine. Rabbits bring beneficial waste. And since the garden is over I started dumping my old green waste into the garden. Well, its now snow and ice outside and so I had alot of green waste and so I took that container and put the green waste in it and placed it on my frozen porch until it unthaws enough so I can add it to my garden.
