Build Your Own Food Storage Cart

First of all we had a major snow storm hit us yesterday. The schools were closed. I’m not sure when spring is gonna come here in Northeast Indiana but I hope its soon. I was just seeing that Walmart had begun putting out their spring gardening supplies and I was thinking, its the perfect time to lay down the organic manure but not with only god knows how many feet of snow right now.

But I saw this link for a build your own food storage cart. On the blog I got this from she said it was for food drying but it looks more like storage to me which when you have an abundance in your garden, would be perfect. Don’t forget you can reduce the cost by using pallet wood. Check out her blog for detailed instructions: http://ana-white.com/2012/06/plans/food-storage-shelf

Spring is coming…someone tell Northeast Indiana that!

Yesterday my neighbor pointed out a Robin and said, “remember, spring is coming. Just remember that,” as the snow fell around us-LOL.

Well, I haven’t gotten much done as far as picking up the free pallet’s. Its been TOO COLD. So, as soon as it unthaws here I will. I am not direct composting right now. I am still collecting but it will all go into that new compost bin. The one I will erect as soon as the chill and freezing temps subsides. Just a week or so more of winter before the thought of doing anything outside would even come to mind-LOL.

We got pummeled with snow the other day

I guess Spring is coming…I guess. We got 10 to 11 inches of snow the other day. School was closed and I had to have my daughter shovel the car out.

So, all of my direct composting is under snow. Which is good. That will help break it down faster. With spring coming, I was thinking that I needed to start an actual compost bin. I needed a place where I could throw my veggie scraps once the garden has started. So, as soon as the weather breaks again, I’ve got to start grabbing up pallets or pallet wood. I need to make me a compost bin for next year. That way I can still throw out my scraps while the garden is growing and it won’t interfer with it while its growing.
